چکیده

BACKGROUND: The reliability to noninvasively identify features of inflammatory dermatoses by reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) remains unknown. Specific consensus terminology with representative images is necessary ensure consistent feature-level interpretation among RCM readers. METHODS: Through an iterative process refinement and discussion five international experts, we developed a glossary aGVHD. In 17 lesions from 12 patients cutaneous aGVHD, four dermatopathologists readers independently evaluated the presence aGVHD in scanned histopathology slides 1.5x1.5 mm submosaics at 4 depths, respectively. Interobserver reproducibility was calculated mean pairwise difference U statistic. Concordance between modalities determined fraction agreement. RESULTS: We present 18 RCM. average interobserver (75%, confidence interval 71%−79%) did not differ significantly (80%, 76%−85%). concordance 59%. CONCLUSIONS: By using validated glossary, implementation can now be advanced variety conditions image set.

Reflectance confocal microscopy features of facial angiofibromas

Facial angiofibromas are benign tumors presenting as firm, dome-shaped, flesh-colored to pink papules, typically on the nose and adjoining central face. Clinically and dermoscopically they can mimic melanocytic nevi or basal cell carcinomas (BCC). Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a noninvasive imaging tool that is useful in diagnosing melanocytic and non-melanocytic facial lesions. To d...

Acute graft versus host disease

Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) occurs after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant and is a reaction of donor immune cells against host tissues. Activated donor T cells damage host epithelial cells after an inflammatory cascade that begins with the preparative regimen. About 35%-50% of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients will develop acute GVHD. The exact risk is...

Reflectance confocal microscopy features of BRAF V600E mutated thin melanomas detected by immunohistochemistry

The classification of melanoma into four histological subtypes has been questioned regarding its clinical validity in providing relevant information for treatment for metastatic tumors. Specific genetic alterations are associated with particular clinical and histopathological features, suggesting that these could be helpful in refining existing melanoma classification schemes. We analyzed BRAF ...

Reflectance confocal microscopy of cutaneous melanoma. Correlation with dermoscopy and histopathology*

In vivo Confocal Microscopy is a method for non-invasive, real-time visualization of microscopic structures and cellular details of the epidermis and dermis, which has a degree of resolution similar to that obtained with histology. We present a case of cutaneous melanoma in which diagnosis was aided by confocal microscopy examination. We also correlate the observed features with the dermoscopic...

Immunobiology of acute graft-versus-host disease Immunobiology of acute graft-versus-host disease

Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) has been the primary limitation to the wider application of allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT). The immunobiology of acute GVHD is complex and can be conceptualized to be a three-step process. In step 1, the conditioning regimen (irradiation and/or chemotherapy) leads to the damage and activation of host tissues and induces the secretion of inflammator...
